Add private notes to suggestions

Last updated:

When viewing a suggestion while signed in as a moderator or admin, you’ll now see a “Add private note” button. This gives you a free-form place to add any notes you want about the suggestion.

Naturally the note is only visible to moderators and admins.

The private note shows between the suggestion itself and the comments.

In keeping with our “keep it simple” policy, adding a private note is straightforward and easy.

Here’s how you might use the private note:

  • As an internal description field that isn’t publicly visible. Why? When users post feature requests they sometimes write opinions like “this is not cool”. So you edit the description of the request before approving. But you might like to save the original description as information.
  • As a space to add links to related discussions and tasks in your internal project management tool. Think of it as an ad-hoc integration if we don’t yet integrate with your project management tool.
  • As a space to store info that is important for your team to see to better understand the suggestion, while keeping that info out of sight from end-users.

This feature was originally suggested on our own feedback board.

This is the latest in a series of many small improvements we’ve been making in recent months.

HAVE ANOTHER FEATURE REQUEST?

Add your new suggestion to our Feature Upvote feedback board. Or upvote an existing suggestion. Your feedback directly informs our product development.
