Case study 1

An animal welfare charity that wants to increase team and volunteer engagement

Problem

The team at head office is based in Manchester. Other team members work remote, while volunteers live all over the country. Ideas come from just a few ‘higher up’ people so the rest of the team and volunteers can feel a bit out of the loop. This leads to a lack of energy and engagement within the charity, as well as a lack of imagination in terms of strategy.

What has been tried

The charity has regular meetings, some of which include remote workers. They also encourage everyone to get in touch via email and Slack with ideas and feedback. However, most team members and volunteers still don’t contribute ideas. It’s also hard to manage the ideas that do come in via email and Slack.

Why a new approach is needed

Some people aren’t very confident speaking up at meetings. This means the ‘loudest voices’ usually contribute the most, reinforcing the usual dynamic. New volunteers often don’t know who to speak to, or aren’t sure whether an idea is even possible.

Processing feedback by email or chat is also challenging. It’s easy to lose feedback and the whole process lacks transparency. Why should people give you feedback when they have no idea what will happen to it?

Plus all the progress you make isn’t always communicated effectively to your team and volunteers. There is no one place where they can go to see what you’ve done.

How FUV can help

With Feature Upvote you can solve many of these challenges, creating a more collaborative and transparent working environment that inspires your team and volunteers.

Create a feedback board for your charity or non-profit (free for 30 days). Invite team members to be part of the feedback team, with full admin rights or as a moderator. Share access with everyone.

Example from Happy Hound case study

See how less confident team members and new volunteers feel able to contribute. Voting also allows your entire team to be involved in prioritising ideas. You don’t have to act on these, but you’ll be surprised by how many good ideas you get!

Comment on ideas or add a status update so contributors know what is happening to their idea and feel pleased that you are listening.

Case study 2

A health & fitness charity that wants to communicate better with partners

alt="Illustration of a woman running"

Problem

This health and fitness charity work with a large number of partners, and managing them can be challenging. Collecting their feedback, and trying to get a sense of the importance of what they’ve suggested, can be particularly time consuming. Do other partners agree? Do you have time to dig around in your emails to find out?

What has been tried

The charity has regular meetings with partners to discuss feedback and problems. These are time-consuming and require notes to be taken. You’ve also tried having more coherent processes to onboard and collaborate with partners, but this doesn’t always seem to work.

Why a new approach is needed

Managing a diverse set of partners is difficult, and can require a lot of time spent on the phone or communicating by email. This feedback is then hard to process and measure against what other partners have suggested.

To effectively manage feedback you need to quickly organise it in one place. Ideally, you also need your partners to see this content, so they can see what everyone else has suggested and voted for, and calibrate their expectations accordingly.

How FUV can help

With Feature Upvote you can solve many of these challenges, saving management time and showing partners that you are serious about listening to their feedback.

Create a feedback board for your charity or non-profit (free for 30 days). Invite partners to add their suggestions and upvote those they agree with. Enjoy not having to process feedback yourself.
