Give users a voice with a feature request board

Collecting and qualifying customer feedback can be a complicated and time consuming process. It doesn’t have to be. A feature request board means that customers – and trial users – get to speak for themselves, vote for themselves, see what other customers want, and see what you are working on both now and in the near future.

If you haven’t tried a feature request board before then why not start now? We offer a 30 day free trial with no sales call guaranteed!

Main advantages of a feature request board (like Feature Upvote)

  • Saves you time because customers add suggestions in one central place
  • Helps show you real pain points for a substantial number of your customers
  • Prevents ‘feature flop’, when management-driven new features fail to impress
  • Inspires developers who can see that the work they do is genuinely valuable and needed
  • Shows customers you care about their feedback and are committed to improving your product
  • Helps develop a community around your product, as customers comment and upvote each other’s suggestions
  • Makes it easy for you to get in touch with customers about their comments and to announce the launch of their requested feature

Feature Upvote has given us insight into unanticipated ways in which people are using our software. Through the months we were in beta, we had decided on a set of launch features. We had actively decided that some features and settings didn’t fit with how we expected people to use Sitebulb. Feature Upvote has helped us realise that we made a mistake by omitting some of these.

How to turn your suggestion board into a superstar

Get customers to use your board as soon as they have a problem

As Heather Paunet of Untangle says: “Getting direct feedback from customers at the time they are thinking about a pain point, or a new feature is invaluable.”

To make sure your customers move from “‘I’m fed up with this’ to ‘this is my problem’ to ‘oh, you’re working on it already – wow!’” place links to your suggestion board in obvious places – on support pages, for example.

Also, make a habit of reaching out directly via social media and email to let people know you have a support board. Redirect suggestions that come through other channels. Read our article on How to Get User Feature Requests (in 3 steps) for more details.

Make sure your board is in the right language

Yes, I’m writing this in English, but our team is multi-lingual and we’re actually based in Barcelona. We’re ambitious about being a global company, and we’re sure you are too!

If you’ve any doubts about why smaller companies should be going global read this article on the World Economic Forum.

SMEs, especially those born Digital, are the new (micro-) multinationals in the game of e-Commerce.

Accenture report

Feature Upvote makes it easy for you to host your feature request board in the language that your customers want, including: English, Czech, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Spain).

Reach out for qualitative feedback

Feature Upvote makes it easy for you to add a comment to a customer suggestion, perhaps asking for greater detail, more clarity, or to investigate why the customer make the request in the first place.

Reply to suggestions to extract more detailed information from your customers.

This kind of qualitative research is really valuable in helping you build features that customers need. After all, each request can be built and implemented in many different ways. And there’s nothing worse than your developers exhausting themselves to ship a feature when half of the ‘must haves’ turn out to be anything but.
